JESUS asked, “who do men say that I am?”
The disciples answered... but it seems, from the text, that HE turned to Peter and said, “who do YOU say I am?”
The phrase ‘who do men’ is open. But Peters sharp answer makes me think that JESUS is singling Peter out for an answer here.
JESUS SAID “who do YOU SAY that I am” And Peter answered.
It is my thought that after HE heard the answer HE received from the disciples HE TURNED to Peter!
HE TURNED TO THE CHURCH!
With all of the questions and uncertainty in this nation right now...
When the world has questions...
What will be YOUR answer be? Because you ought to always be ready to give an answer (1 Peter 3:15)
JESUS IS TURNING TO US!
Peter represents the church in scripture.
So, in the midst of chaos, confusion and calamity JESUS IS turning to us and HE IS SAYING,
“who do YOU say that I am?”
yes, you are in a state where you don’t know WHO to follow because words are flying everywhere and men seem to lie in the media continually...
It is imperative that in the midst of all of this!
In this point of transition, between night and day we must not fall out of line!
We must make our election SURE!
We must KNOW WHO THE SOLID ROCK IS, and we must be firmly planted, rooted and GROUNDED IN HIM!
We MUST STAND IN HIM!
When everything else fails we must KNOW THE LORD!
“Who do you SAY that I am?”
